Exhibition Gorcums Museum - Around Peter Struycken and Around 3D
In February 2024, a new exhibition opened at the Gorcums Museum: 'Rondom Peter Struycken' and 'Rondom 3D' - an exhibition about the use of computers in art.
The museum approached us via Galerie Zône to be part of the 'Rondom 3D' exhibition with works related to 3D printing: Bastiaan Luijk is exhibiting his Baguio table lamp and his 'Kubus Ruimte voor Ruimtelijkheid' (Cube Space for Spatiality), and Frida van der Poel is showcasing her 'NOVY SKOK' stool in collaboration with Bastiaan. We are proud and grateful to be part of this exhibition, alongside the work of Nick Ervinck, Michiel van der Kley, Marco van Trigt, and Anouk Wipprecht.
During the opening, we were amazed by what we saw and had inspiring conversations. The work of 85-year-old computer art pioneer Peter Struycken is fascinating and comprehensive: from plotter drawings and photo prints to textiles, animations, and a specially designed room featuring an installation with five-screen projections set to music by Pierre Boulez and Alexander Scriabin. During the opening, there was a live interview with Peter Struycken, hosted by curator Jack van Mildert, which can be viewed on the Gorcums Museum YouTube channel. (Highly recommended!) Surrounding Peter’s works, 'friendly works' from his private collection are on display, featuring work by:
Carel Blotkamp, Hoos Blotkamp, Rinus van den Bosch, Ad Dekkers, Rein Draijer, Ger van Elk, Bettie van Haaster, Cecile van der Heiden, Willem Hussem, Rob van Koningsbruggen, André Kruysen, Geert Lap, Floris van Manen, Marc Mulders, Mai van Oers, Charlotte van Pallandt, Eja Siepman van den Berg, Charley Toorop, Harry Verburg, Juul Vermeire, Carel Visser and Lawrence Weiner
The exhibition is on view through September 2024.
